 Thierry Morin appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the French National Institute for Industrial Property (INPI)

Paris, France, March 5, 2007 – Christine Lagarde, French Minister of the Economy, Finance and Employment and Hervé Novelli, French Secretary of State for Companies and Foreign Trade have appointed Thierry Morin, Chairman & CEO of Valeo, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the INPI (French National Institute for Industrial Property).

“I am very honoured by this nomination. The increasing use of industrial property tools is a sign of the creativity and dynamism of French companies. The INPI’s role is critical role in strengthening the competitiveness of French industry and fighting against counterfeiting,” indicated Thierry Morin.

Three companies in the automobile sector are amongst the four leading patent filers in France: PSA Peugeot Citroën, Renault and Valeo. The Valeo Group, which develops systems for cleaner, safer and more comfortable vehicles, has always put innovation at the heart of its strategy. The Group invests 5.5% of its sales in Research & Development and files globally over 550 new patents per year.

The INPI is a self-financed public organization, under the aegis of the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment. It delivers patents, trademarks and design patents and provides information on industrial property and companies. The Institute is active in developing policy in the domain of industrial property and anti-counterfeiting actions.
