The Convergence program is carried out over three years
and is designed to improve relationship between Valeo and its main
suppliers in order to optimize quality and reduce costs.
The goal is to concentrate on the best suppliers.
The Convergence program is based on the appointment of a
Group Lead Buyer who acts as a supplier-relationship manager,
and the implementation of Scorecard, a new tool for monitoring
the supplier's performance in relation to all Valeo Divisions.
The objective of the suppliers in the Convergence program is to
achieve performance that places them among the best in their category
and enables them to get the Valeo Integrated Partner (VIP) label.
Functions of the Group Lead Buyers
- They coordinate the Division buyers and facilitate the supplier's access to Valeo's top management. The supplier obtains greater visibility on projects in order to develop its business plan with Valeo.
- They implement the purchasing strategy on their market in the medium and long term and define the supplier's QCDI (Quality – Cost – Delivery – Innovation) goals in keeping with Group strategy.
- They apply decisions made by the team for Valeo: granting of business or placing on probation, depending on the supplier's performance.
- Their counterpart and closest contact at the supplier company is the Valeo Champion.
Scorecard: a new tool for evaluating supplier performance
- Each key supplier has a Scorecard enabling easy evaluation of its overall performance in relation to all Valeo Divisions.
- The Scorecard monitors the supplier's performance over three years, emphasizing improvements in quality and reductions of total costs. It highlights the supplier's ongoing improvement and shows how many of the supplier's suggestions have helped increase productivity.
- Based on the performance recorded using Scorecard, Valeo decides whether to grant this supplier business, to be managed by a Group Lead Buyer.
