Commit

Valeo is committed to transforming mobility and is developing an environmental strategy based on 2 main pathways:

  • significantly reducing its direct and indirect CO2 emissions thanks to the Cap 50 plan;
  • deploying a circular economy with a dedicated program, the 4R program.

The Group is also committed to supporting its employees through local programs, and encourages diversity throughout its workforce.

Contributing to carbon neutrality

Valeo is pursuing its work in line with its plan to contribute to carbon neutrality, adopted in 2021. The Cap 50 plan initiatives cover the entire value chain, including:

  • suppliers;
  • operating activities;
  • the end use of products sold by the Group.

Commitments for 2050 and 2030

By 2050, the Group is committed to achieving net-zero emissions across all operating activities and supply chain(1).

Valeo is developing a plan to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions from its operating activities by 75% and its upstream (supply chain) and downstream (product use) Scope 3 emissions by 15%, in absolute terms, by 2030 compared with the 2019 baseline.

In all, Valeo aims to reduce its emissions across all scopes by 17% by 2030. These targets have been approved by the SBTi(2).

In parallel, the Group's technologies are expected to enable third parties to avoid 13.6 MtCO2eq. of greenhouse gas emissions, or the equivalent of 27% of its 2019 baseline emissions.

Accelerating the circular economy

Aware of the importance of the circular economy in its industry, Valeo strengthened its circularity program in 2023, following its rollout in 2022.
The Group's objective is to gradually extend this program to all its geographies, in addition to Europe, and to all products, including electronics.

The 4R circular economy program

According to the Circularity Gap Report, the global economy is barely circular today, with only 7% of resources cycled back into use. Aware of the importance of the circular economy in its industry and markets, Valeo deployed the 4R circularity program in 2022, which was strengthened in 2023.

The 4R program is based on 4 pillars:

Valeo 4R circulary economy. Repair: giving malfunctioning products a second chance. Remanufacturing: reusing end-of-life products by rebuilding them as new. Recycle(d): as a last resort, returning end-of-life products to the raw material state to be re-injected into new products. Robust design: maximazing products' useful lives.

Valeo's approach

Valeo's approach addresses the full range of circularity issues, including:

  • prevention and management of waste;
  • collecting damaged or obsolete products from across the Group;
  • recycling process waste;
  • reusing packaging materials;
  • sustainably using resources, with policies and action plans covering water use and supply and the more efficient use of fewer raw materials.

The 4R program is proving to be most impactful in the development of Valeo's aftermarket business: over 1 million parts are reconditioned and repaired every year.

Encouraging diversity among our employees

The Valeo Group's human capital is characterized by a broad variety of its employees' professions, backgrounds and profiles.

Valeo works for diversity, equity and inclusion in four areas:

  • gender equity;
  • intergenerational cohesion;
  • cultural diversity;
  • the inclusion of people with disabilities.

Encouraging the representation of women

The representation of women within Valeo is progressing in line with the Group’s objectives. In 2024, the objective was even exceeded, with women representing 24.6% of executives. The Group's action plan includes a number of initiatives aimed at boosting the presence of women at all levels of the organization, and in particular on the management committees. In 2024, 42% of Board members were women.

Valeo intends to further accelerate its efforts and has set itself the objective of having 32% women in managerial positions within the Group by 2030.

Supporting our employees

One of the pillars of Valeo's CSR policy is its commitment to corporate citizenship. This is why, in September 2024, the Group launched “One site, One cause”, a new employee volunteering program.

Promoting community involvement through “One site, One cause”

“One site, One cause” is the new program under which Valeo Group employees can volunteer to take part in initiatives that promote education, solidarity, mobility for all, and the environment.

There are numerous initiatives around the world, ranging from skills sponsorship programs to donation campaigns and one-off events. They are defined by each entity to contribute to the Group's four common causes, while remaining closely aligned with the areas that are most relevant in the local area.

  • Education: the Valeo Library project in China involves building school libraries and distributing books to help educated children in disadvantaged rural areas.
  • Solidarity: employees in various countries support underprivileged populations by donating practical gifts at the end of the year. In France, a partnership has been set up with the Restos du Cœur food charity, in which ten Valeo sites have taken part, including Etaples, Issoire and Paris Courcelles.
