Valeo Bietigheim, the birthplace and future of driver assistance
From the first ultrasonic parking assistance to enabling true automated driving experiences, the German site located near Stuttgart has a rich tradition of innovation, making an essential contribution to the development of the most advanced driver assistance systems.
Few sites in the world can boast such a decisive contribution in their field of expertise.
This is where the world’s first ultrasonic sensors for parking assistance were developed, in the early 1990s. They have since become a standard feature.
Specializing in advanced systems for active safety, parking assistance, assisted and automated driving, as well as intuitive user interfaces, the Bietigheim site kept contributing to the development of major innovations such as the world’s first smart front camera or multi-beam radar, hands-on detection, automatic parking, affordable driving assistance, high performance car computers, or the world’s first automotive-grade long-range LiDAR which is essential for safe automated driving.
The site teams are also working on the development of Driver Monitoring Systems that alert the driver in the event of signs of drowsiness or lack of alertness, state-of-the-art head-up display systems, and remote operation systems that enable vehicles to be operated remotely.
Today, some 1,200 employees of more than 50 different nationalities work at the site, contributing to the latest driver assistance and software-defined vehicle technologies.
“The site is literally at the heart of the automotive industry’s transformation,” emphasizes site director Slobodan Milovanovic. “With the central high-performance computers and zonal control units, we are developing both the cardiovascular system and the nervous system of future software-defined vehicle architectures”.
Benefiting from state-of-the-art testing and simulation facilities, our engineers develop scalable solutions from single components to turn-key systems with a clear user-centric approach.
More than ever, Valeo Bietigheim continues to shape the future of driver assistance and software-defined vehicles.
