Our activities

Valeo has its own administration, customer interface and service structure in Germany. In addition, Germany is a key location for both the Group’s production and its international research and development activities.

Bietigheim-Bissingen is an important research and development focus for Valeo in its Comfort & Driving Assistance Systems Business Group. It was here that a milestone of automotive history – the parking sensor – was developed and began its journey to worldwide dominance with a premium German customer. Today, this parking sensor is standard in almost every car in the world. Germany remains the home of R&D activities and the production of next-generation parking sensors and other innovative technologies in radar and environment recognition.

Valeo also has R&D activities in Germany in the fields of electric drives and battery thermal management, as well as operating a hot and cold climatic wind tunnel and a high-voltage test bench. Germany is also home to several key production and R&D sites in the field of HVAC equipment for cars, commercial vehicles and buses. The same goes for windscreen wipers, wiper motors and wiper linkages. Although the wiper plant in Bietigheim supplies many customers as an OEM, the high-quality wipers are also distributed by our colleagues at Valeo Service through own brands such as the prominent SWF.

With three major sites in Germany, Valeo is also an expert partner in the development and production of powertrain and braking system applications for the automotive industry. The latest state-of-the-art facility for the production of front end modules opened in Bremen in early 2019.

Since the late 1990s, Valeo has successfully acquired various companies based in Germany, thus continually expanding its Business Groups in the country. Valeo’s activities are now spread all over Germany, with a focus on Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Along with production and research and development, Valeo operates Customer Interface Offices in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Braunschweig, Rüsselsheim, Munich and Wolfsburg – always in close proximity to its customers. In addition, the Valeo Service aftermarket activity has its office in Ratingen near Düsseldorf, from where it supplies customers with spare parts and supports the independent aftermarket.
