Valeo launches production of a remanufactured inverter for the Renault network

This milestone marks the completion of a project led by The Future is NEUTRAL and its subsidiary THE REMAKERS, to develop a competitive circular offering with low environmental impact.

This new offering reduces the price by 30% compared to the equivalent new product and consumption of natural resources by at least 45%.

October 8, 2025—Paris, France — Valeo announces the launch of a remanufactured inverter for Renault ZOE, available throughout the OEM’s network. Thanks to this initiative, Renault customers can benefit from essential parts at a more affordable cost, extending the life of their vehicle while making a more environmentally friendly choice. Remanufacturing inverters allows at least 45% of the weight of the materials to be recovered, thus preserving natural resources, especially the most precious ones.

Christophe Le Ligné, Valeo Group Research & Development Vice President, said: “We are pleased to put Valeo’s expertise at the service of THE REMAKERS, a subsidiary of The Future is NEUTRAL. Our expertise in remanufacturing enables us to offer the market a high-quality technological product at a more affordable price than new products, with equivalent performance. The remanufacturing of power electronics is an essential step in Valeo’s strategy to reduce the environmental footprint of the automotive market and achieve our decarbonization objectives”.

Valeo and The Remakers, partners for the circular economy

This milestone marks the culmination of a collaboration between Valeo and THE REMAKERS. It is part of the two partners’ shared commitment to accelerating the rollout of circular economy solutions in the automotive industry. Valeo, which has more than 40 years of recognized expertise in the remanufacturing of mechanical and electronic components, has found in THE REMAKERS—a subsidiary of The Future is NEUTRAL (a Renault Group and Suez company) dedicated to remanufacturing and located at the heart of the Flins “Refactory”, France—an ideal industrial partner to extend this approach to high-voltage systems. It is within this framework that the Renault ZOE inverter remanufacturing project was initiated, combining Valeo’s production expertise and THE REMAKERS’ platform to offer a sustainable and competitive alternative to new parts.

A new lease of life thanks to a strict protocol

To give its products a second life, Valeo has implemented a rigorous industrial process at its site in Veszprém, Hungary, which specializes in the production of inverters. Each inverter is carefully cleaned, diagnosed, repaired, or has its defective components replaced before receiving a software update and undergoing a complete series of performance tests. This process guarantees quality equivalent to that of a new product, with 100% of parts tested at the end of the line.

Valeo, a committed player in remanufacturing

Valeo has made the circular economy a central part of its strategy, building on the principles of robust design, repair, remanufacturing, and recycling. The company aims to maximize the life of products from the design stage, give them a second life by remanufacturing them at the end of their cycle to a level of quality equivalent to new products, and finally recycle the materials as a last resort. Already one of the largest on the market, Valeo’s portfolio of remanufactured products incorporates in average 80% reused materials and continues to expand, particularly for electronic and high voltage components, whose share in vehicles is growing rapidly. With 55 million tons of electronic waste generated each year worldwide, this strategy reduces waste and limits the environmental impact of the automotive industry.
