Gilles Le Borgne’s biography

Independent Director

Gilles Le Borgne has extensive experience in the automotive sector and the technologies of the car of the future. After more than thirty-seven years with PSA and Renault groups, he is recognized as one of the greatest French experts in vehicle engineering and design.

After eight years of research and development on materials and technologies at PSA group, he became the Chief Engineer of the Citroën C3 phase I platform. He then took responsibility for advanced vehicle concepts for seven years. In 2010, he was appointed head of the Pre-Projects Department, before becoming Director of Research and Development in April 2013, then Director of Quality and Engineering at PSA group from September 2016 to May 2019. In January 2020, he joined Renault group as Director of Engineering and member of the group Executive Committee, before serving as Director of Technology until November 2024, and then as Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer until the end of 2025.

From January 2015 to May 2018, he was also President of the Automotive Technical Committee (CTA) within the PFA (Automotive Industry Platform). He received two “Eurostar” awards in 2018 and 2021 from Automotive News Europe in the “Product Development Executive” category and was named Automotive Man of the Year 2019 by the Journal de l’automobile. Since March 2025, he has been a member of the French Academy of Technologies.

Gilles Le Borgne graduated from the École nationale supérieure des céramiques industrielles and holds a master of advanced studies (diplôme d’etudes approfondies (DEA)) in Materials from the University of Limoges.

Gilles Le Borgne is a French citizen and speaks French and English.
