Valeo introduces dedicated two-wheeler Advanced Rider Assistance Systems, Wind Visor HUD projection, and anti-glaring at EICMA 2026 to address critical European road safety challenges
The Group expands into two-wheeler electrification with its compact 48V iSMMG 2-in-1 motor and controller for urban decarbonization
November 3, 2026 — Paris, France — Valeo, a global leader in automotive technology and mobility solutions, is participating in EICMA 2026, Europe’s leading two-wheeler trade show (November 3rd – 8th, 2026, Fiera Milano, Hall 9 – Booth Q60). Valeo will present its latest portfolio of technological innovations engineered to make motorcycle and scooter mobility significantly safer while contributing to the sector’s ongoing decarbonization. By transferring its automotive-grade expertise in driver assistance, lighting, and electrification into compact systems built for two-wheel packaging, Valeo provides manufacturers with scalable solutions for next-generation mobility.
“Protecting vulnerable road users demands dedicated, purpose-built innovation. Valeo is translating decades of automotive safety and software expertise into ultra-compact systems engineered specifically for two-wheel constraints, said Christophe Périllat, CEO of Valeo. “We are equipping motorcycle manufacturers with reliable, production-ready solutions that actively prevent collisions while safeguarding the rider without compromising the riding experience.”
According to data from the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) and the European Road Safety Observatory (ERSO), powered two-wheeler riders account for roughly 20% of all road fatalities in the European Union, despite representing less than 2% of total road traffic. Critical accident scenarios frequently involve intersection conflicts, lateral blind spots, and misjudged closing speeds by other motorists. Valeo’s dedicated two-wheeler systems directly target these situations, providing riders and surrounding traffic with extended situational awareness to prevent severe collisions before they occur.
Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) tailored to two-wheeler
Motorcycles present specific challenges for active safety systems, including vehicle lean angles, vibration and limited space for integrating sensors and electronic control units. At EICMA, Valeo presents its Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS), combining radar, cameras and processing capabilities to support a range of safety functions.
- A cost-effective, high-precision radar unit providing essential hazard warnings, including Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA), and Rear Collision Warning (RCW).
- High-resolution optical sensors (scalable from 3 MPX to 8 MPX) built specifically for tight packaging within front cowlings and fairings, delivering the continuous vision stream required for active safety functions.
- An ultra-compact, low-power processing platform capable of hosting dual high-definition cameras and driving up to six core safety functions simultaneously, including dashcam recording and emergency alert algorithms.
- Scalable software architecture supporting sensor fusion for Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Lane Departure Alerts, and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
Keeping riders informed with a head-up display
Accessing information while riding requires careful attention to visual distraction – taking one’s eyes off the road for just 1 to 2 seconds at 100 km/h means traveling 50 meters blind. Valeo presents its Wind Visor Head-Up Display (2W HUD), which projects key riding information, such as speed and trajectory guidance, onto the motorcycle windscreen. By displaying relevant information within the rider’s forward field of view, the system is designed to help reduce the need to look away from the road.
Alongside the HUD, Valeo presents its Connected Cluster, which combines the driver display and connectivity backend into one smart unit. By grouping control devices, it enables seamless integration of mandatory and optional functions, providing manufacturers with a leaner, more cost-effective approach while making riding more exciting.
Seeing and being seen: lighting expertise for road visibility
Lighting plays an important role in motorcycle visibility, both for riders and for other road users. At EICMA, Valeo presents compact lighting technologies designed to combine optical performance with the integration and styling requirements of two-wheelers.
- Valeo offers a versatile range of digital and thin lighting modules, including HD LED, ThinLED, and BiLED, spanning from compact, cost-effective solutions to high-definition premium ADB (Adaptive Driving Beam) with road projection capabilities.
- Its rear signaling systems ensure riders are clearly seen while enabling unique, highly homogeneous lighting signatures that combine enhanced safety with distinct style differentiation.
- Valeo also integrates illuminated logos, providing manufacturers with limitless personalization options to showcase their brand signature.
Scalable powertrains for urban decarbonization
Alongside its safety and lighting technologies, Valeo presents its iSMMG (integrated Small Mobility Motor Generator for 2-Wheelers), a compact 48V electric propulsion solution designed for urban mobility. The system combines the motor and inverter into a single, compact 2-in-1 unit designed to lower total manufacturing costs and simplify vehicle integration for OEMs.
Delivering over 90% efficiency, the scalable motor is available in power outputs up to 10 kW, including an eco-friendly variant engineered entirely without rare-earth magnets. Fully sealed and meeting automotive-grade functional safety standards (ASIL B), the robust air-cooled solution delivers reliable performance tailored to next-generation electric motorcycles and scooters.
