Valeo Secures Contract for Next-Generation Radar Technology with North American OEM
Valeo will provide its next-generation corner radar suite—comprising both hardware and embedded software—for the L2+ and L3 systems of a North American electric vehicle manufacturer.
The new radar technology offers 50 times the resolution of previous generations and enables vital safety features as well as driving and parking functions.
The radar platform is built for modularity, allowing the OEM to customize configurations for different levels of autonomy (from entry to Level 3) and supports over-the-air updates for upgrades and future addition of functions such as "Eyes off" capabilities.
June 30, 2026 — Paris, France — Valeo, a global leader in automotive technology, has secured a new contract for advanced safety technologies with a North American electric vehicle manufacturer. Valeo will deploy its corner radar suite, including both hardware and embedded software, for the carmaker’s L2+ and L3 system.
The latest generation of radar is engineered to enable essential life-saving features, including Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) as well as Safe Exit Protection (SEP). Valeo’s radar system can also support ”Eyes off” functions that could be added over-the-air by the OEM at a later date.

Finally, the suite supports over-the-air update, ensuring it keeps offering the best performances during the life of the vehicle.
Valeo’s Radar Family for Unrivaled Performance and 360-Degree Situational Awareness
Valeo’s radar family redefines vehicle perception by combining extreme sensitivity with high-performance computing and integrated Artificial Intelligence. Valeo offers both front and corner radars to ensure the reliable detection of small objects over short and long range.
The front radar offers long-range vision capable of detecting hazards at distances of up to 250 meters, ensuring reliable object detection and safe navigation even at high speeds. To ensure peak performance in challenging environments like tunnels or adverse weather, the technology utilizes advanced interference robustness and waveguide antenna technology. Furthermore, the high performance compute architecture supports deep-learning-based fusion, making these vehicles ready for future centralized AI software stacks.
In addition to forward-facing safety, Valeo’s Corner Radar sensors create a protective cocoon around the vehicle. These sensors power critical functions such as Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alerts as well as Advanced Parking features ensuring safe autonomous vehicle maneuvering in tight low speed scenarios. By monitoring a vehicle’s blind spots, corner radar sensors significantly enhance driver awareness and safety. During lane-change maneuvers, the system actively assists the driver through visual, acoustic, or haptic alerts and can even facilitate fully automatic lane changes. Additionally, when reversing out of a space, the rear cross-traffic alert system utilizes these sensors to warn the driver of any approaching vehicles.
