In this catalog, Valeo presents a selection of its technologies in the domains of electrification, driving assistance, lighting and the reinvention of life onboard, four domains essential to the transformation of mobility, to make it cleaner, safer and smarter, in the automobile and beyond.
Valeo is strongly committed to sustainable development and environmental protection: it was the first equipment supplier to promote R-744 Standard Heat Pump (natural refrigerant), winning a PACE Award in 2017 for this innovative technology. (PACE: Premier Automotive Suppliers’ Contribution to Excellence).
R-744 (CO2) Refrigerant has a significantly lower climate impact than fluorinated refrigerants (R-134a or R-1234yf). It also offers more power and efficiency at extreme cold temperatures (-18°C) thanks to its thermodynamic properties. It is the most efficient way of heating an electric vehicle in cold conditions.
The high voltage combo OBC DC/DC combines the functionality of an Onboard Charger (OBC) with that of a DC/DC converter (DC/DC). The OBC is the interface between the car and the public grid, it converts the energy from the grid network AC (Alternative Current) source to the DC (Direct Current) voltage of the car high voltage battery in respect with the public grid and regulations.
New visual and tactile solutions are emerging in response to the trend toward refined car interiors, along with automakers’ efforts to offer drivers a smoother In-cabin experience. Valeo Visibility Systems and Valeo Comfort and Driving Assistance combine their expertise to develop solutions comprising interior lighting and human-machine interface.
Initially designed to heat the coolant in EVs’ standard HVAC module, and improve cabin comfort, High Voltage Coolant Heaters are also used to heat up the battery.
They have now become mandatory for battery pre-heating in cold weather conditions.
Valeo wants to democratize HVCH implementation by offering a flat design to match all demands and also fit into compact A/C Systems.
