  48V Inverter

  The 48V inverter, the electronic component that drives the 48V eMotor (electric motor), is able to be integrated on all architectures beyond P0 (alternator position) meaning between the engine and the gearbox or in the gearbox or on the vehicle rear axle.

  Valeo produces its own electronics including the power modules based on Transfer Molded Leadframe (TML) which allow Valeo to have a multisourcing strategy on the Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET).

  Battery Thermal Runaway Sensor

  Thermal runaway occurs when the temperature of the EV battery reaches a critical state. Thermal runaway sensors ensure thermal runaway detection.

  Valeo offers a range of sensors combining measurement and detection of several gas types inside the battery to address the regulations evolution, in particular regarding the safety of electric vehicles batteries.

  Multiple Flow Electrical Oil Pump

  Electrical Oil Pumps (EOP) are mainly used in all types of transmissions (Automatic Transmission – AT, dry or wet Dual Clutch Transmission – DCT, Dedicated Hybrid Transmission – DHT, Continuous Variable Transmission – CVT, Manual Transmission – MT, reducer) for lubrication and cooling (gears, clutches, eDrive) and in a lower proportion also for actuation (of clutches, hydraulic gear shifting, hydraulic park-lock). For both of those application fields, Valeo also offers Smart Pump, being EOP (Electric Oil Pump) with a combination of active functions.

  Multiple Wet Clutch: double wet clutch and Triple wet clutch

  The Double Wet Clutch (DWC) is a type of automatic multi-speed vehicle transmission system, that uses two separate wet clutches. The principle of such a transmission is to be able to switch gears without feeling the change. It is seamless gear shifting. Valeo is also developing Triple Wet Clutch (TWC).

  EV High Voltage On-Board Charger

  The electric vehicle onboard charger converts alternative current available on the grid into direct current that can charge the vehicle’s battery. Almost all the energy charged in the vehicle is flowing through the onboard charger’s power electronics.

  Immersive EV Battery Cooling System

  As EV range extension cannot rely solely on increasing the size of batteries, the only alternative to match ICE vehicle’s usage is to increase the charging speed. Most OEMs aim to reach 80% charging in less than 15 minutes; this is called ultra fast charging or high-power charging at 250 kW and above.

  However, injecting that level of energy into the battery pack generates a significant heat that may damage the cells if proper cooling is not used.

  High Voltage Electrical Air Heaters

  High-voltage Air heaters represent the natural evolution of low-voltage 12V PTCs, specifically designed for BEVs. Thanks to PTC stone technology, Valeo high voltage heaters operate at higher powers and voltages, providing superior performance.

  With the rise of vehicles equipped with ultra-fast charging technologies operating at 800 V, it is becoming essential to upgrade certain components, particularly those that consume the most energy, to align with this standard. Valeo therefore also offers high voltage air heaters at 800 V.

  High Voltage Inverter 400V Si

  The 400V inverter is the brain at the heart of the electric powertrain, it controls the electric motor. It converts Direct Current (DC) from the battery to Alternative Current (AC) to power the electric motor. It can also be used in reverse mode to charge the battery by transforming kinetic energy from the vehicle into electrical energy that can be stored in the battery. Valeo inverters are based on a scalable platform able to suit Si or SiC, for 400V & 800V. It is based on a highly standardized hardware and software architecture.
