The high-efficiency Permanent Magnet Electric Motor is a reversible machine: during acceleration, the machine converts the electric energy into the rotating mechanical energy required to propel the vehicle and during deceleration, the machine regenerates energy, meaning the machine converts back mechanical energy into electric energy.

High voltage batteries are expensive and very sensitive to temperature variations, even when the vehicle is stopped and the battery is being charged. Valeo designs and manufactures compact and cost-competitive solutions (refrigerant, liquid and air cooling) to cater for all types of powertrains: hybrids in Japan and the US; plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and full electric (EV) elsewhere. For PHEVs, Valeo full exchanger solution on refrigerant is serial since 2015. For EVs, Valeo offers ultra-performing liquid battery coolers for prismatic and cylindrical Li-ion battery packs (China, the US and Europe).
Electrical Oil Pumps (EOP) are mainly used in all types of transmissions (Automatic Transmission – AT, dry or wet Dual Clutch Transmission – DCT, Dedicated Hybrid Transmission – DHT, Continuous Variable Transmission – CVT, Manual Transmission – MT, reducer) for lubrication and cooling (gears, clutches, eDrive) and in a lower proportion also for actuation (of clutches, hydraulic gear shifting, hydraulic park-lock). For both of those application fields, Valeo also offers Smart Pump, being EOP (Electric Oil Pump) with a combination of active functions.
The High Voltage DC/DC converter is a reversible electronic device which lowers the Direct Current from the High Voltage battery to a Low Voltage Direct Current used by most of the vehicle electrical equipment (e.g. dashboard, electric window…). The DC/DC converter is also in charge of keeping the passengers safe by insulating them from the High Voltage electricity network.
