High voltage batteries are expensive and very sensitive to temperature variations even when the vehicle is stopped and the battery is being charged. Valeo designs and manufactures compact and cost competitive battery cooling solutions (refrigerant, liquid and air cooling) to cater for all types of powertrains: hybrids in Japan and the U.S.; plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and full electric (EV) elsewhere. For PHEVs, Valeo full exchanger battery cooling solution on refrigerant is serial since 2015. For EVs, Valeo offers ultra-performing liquid battery coolers for prismatic and cylindrical Li-ion battery packs (China, the U.S. and Europe).
The inverter is the brain at the heart of the powertrain, it controls the electric motor. It converts Direct Current (DC) from the battery to Alternative Current (AC) to power the electric Motor. It can also be used in reverse mode to charge the battery by transforming kinetic energy from the vehicle into electrical energy that can be stored in the battery.
Front End Modules include Active Grille Shutters, Heat Exchanger, Radiators and a Fan System enclosed in a shroud. Front End Modules can manage the airflow at the front of the vehicle for both aerodynamic performance and cooling requirements (cabin or battery). As part of the vehicle structure, Front End Modules are also designed for crash absorption and resistance.

The 48V inverter, the electronic component that drives the 48V eMotor (electric motor), is able to be integrated on all architectures beyond P0 (alternator position) meaning between the engine and the gearbox or in the gearbox or on the vehicle rear axle.
Valeo produces its own electronics including the power modules based on Transfer Molded Leadframe (TML) which allow Valeo to have a multisourcing strategy on the Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET).
The high-efficiency Permanent Magnet Electric Motor is a reversible machine: during acceleration, the machine converts the electric energy into the rotating mechanical energy required to propel the vehicle and during deceleration, the machine regenerates energy, meaning the machine converts back mechanical energy into electric energy.
Our eAccess Belt 14 version is already on the market, with, for example, the Citroën AMI, a small 100% electric 48V urban vehicle that can be driven without a driver’s license and is ideal for commuting in urban areas.
Surround View Camera Solutions, also known as 360-degree surround view camera systems, enhance the safety and convenience of driving. These systems provide a comprehensive view of the vehicle’s surroundings, minimizing blind spots and assisting drivers with tasks such as parking, maneuvering in tight spaces, and navigating through complex traffic situations.
Located in the front cooling module, air conditioning condensers are heat exchangers that are part of the refrigerant loop (A/C system). When going through this type of exchangers, the refrigerant becomes liquid, or put differently “condenses”, to release the heat it carries in the air that crosses the exchanger.
In R-744 A/C & heat pump systems, gas coolers have exactly the same function.
A/C Condensers can sometimes include an evaporation function – they are the called “evaporative-condensers”. Evaporators are exchangers that provide cold air while drying the air that goes through it to demist the windshield.
The Canister Purge Valve is a specific range of solenoid actuators to control canister hydrocarbon evaporative gas recirculation in the intake to reduce the pollutant emissions and the fuel consumption in internal combustion engines (ICE).
